Arranged marriages in islam - By:Richard Ameyaw
Arranged marriages are cultural agreements for many Muslims all over the world. Man and woman who are ready to get married meet their future spouse through their family and friends. After man and women meet they are placed in a private room with supervision so that they can get to know each other. In arranged marriages especially in Islam, the bride or groom has the right to accept or reject marriage proposals. Their consent is a aproval to the validity of the marriage contract according to the Prophet’s teaching. The prophets teachings state that if an arranged marriage means the marrying of a female without her consent, then the female may choose to declined if she wishes. The Qur’an (religious text of Islam also known to be the word of God by Muslims) encourages married couples to resolve their problem privately in a fair way. The Qur'an does not encourage married couples to take action such as violence or any sort of abuse on the females in the marriage, But the Qur'an allow husbands to give a gentle pat to the wife which causes no harm to the body and leaves no marks of any sort on it.
